Traks unite East and West with epic swim
Five brave Traktors became inter-continental swimmers when they took the plunge on Sunday 18th July. The multinational party including Tirma Garcia Suarez (ESP), Stella Constantatos (GRE/SA), Josine Nohlmans (NED), Burcu Ünal (TUR) & Steve Young (GBR) swam the annual Asia To Europe Swim in Istanbul, Turkey.
The 6.5km course runs down and across the Bosphorus which links the Black Sea in the north to the Sea of Marmara in the south and separates Europe and Asia.
Out of the 817 competitors, 561 finished with many being fished out by the safety crews. Navigation was the key to success as the currents varied from +2mph to -2mph along the course. Whilst many overshot the finish and had to struggle back, some were thwarted just metres from the finish line as they were caught up in the strong back eddies.
All Traks however, mangaged not only to survive but post stunning results - all finishing in under 70 minutes.

Saturday Pool Swimming continues
Morning swims continue
every Saturday 0700-0800 at Bedford
High School through to end September. Pay as you go £3 -
usually at the following Tuesday session. Excellent facility and rarely
crowded.
I expect this session to continue unbroken through the Winter but will
update in the coming weeks.
